Western Black Crested Gibbon

The Western Black-crested gibbons (Hylobates concolor ) are small, arboreal lesser apes. They were once wide spread but are now restricted to the scattered subtropical forests of sourthern China and northern Vietnam. IUCN has rated it as critically endagered (CR) in 2008.

Habitat destruction and fragementation as a result of human disturbance, such as illegal herding in conservation areas and non-timber forest product harvesting
